inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Law Enforcement Directorate of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police (INP) assisted in handling a traffic accident that occurred on the Pantura Road, specifically in Kiajaran Kulon Village, Indramayu, West Java.
The Director of Law Enforcement, Brigadier General I Made Agus Prasatya, stated that this assistance demonstrates their commitment to uncovering the cause of the accident that resulted in three fatalities.
"We ensure that every traffic accident, especially those resulting in fatalities, is handled professionally, scientifically, and transparently. The results of this analysis are not only part of the law enforcement process but also serve as the basis for a joint evaluation by all stakeholders to prevent similar accidents from recurring," explained Prasatya on Tuesday (7/14/2026).
At the direction of the newly appointed Head of INP Traffic Corps, Inspector General Wibowo, he immediately deployed an assistance team to the scene on Monday (7/13/2026).
In an initial meeting with the Indramayu Sub-regional Police, the assistance team conducted an in-depth investigation of the crime scene (TKP), witness statements, and evidence.
Based on preliminary results, no traces of braking were found on the two Hino trucks involved before they collided with the Daihatsu Grand Max, which had stopped to make a U-turn.
The team also interviewed the truck driver. However, the investigation is still considering his psychological state, as he is still experiencing trauma.
In addition, the team obtained video footage circulating on social media to support the analysis of the vehicle's speed before the accident. Currently, CCTV inspections in the area have not found any cameras pointing directly at the incident site.
To strengthen the scientific evidence, the authority conducted a crime scene investigation using 3D Laser Scanner technology.
The inspection revealed a difference in road surface elevation of approximately 10 centimeters between lanes A and B. No traffic signs or U-turn signs were found at the scene.
The team also identified that the U-turn points used were not official U-turns, but rather access points opened informally by the public. According to the West Java Provincial Transportation Agency, the distance between official U-turns on this section of road is approximately 800 meters.
As a follow-up, the police held a focus group discussion (FGD) with the West Java Provincial Transportation and Public Works and Housing Agency to evaluate road safety aspects along the Pantura section of Kiajaran Kulon Village.
The evaluation results agreed on the need to reorganize U-turn points in accordance with regulations, improve coordination between the police and relevant agencies, and evaluate the installation of traffic signs to improve road user safety.
All crime scene investigation results and technical analysis have been submitted to investigators for further investigation.
