inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inspected the Eid homecoming traffic at Tugu Station in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).
He ensured that security and services under Operation Ketupat were running smoothly and optimally for the public.
"Today we had the opportunity to directly inspect Tugu Station in Yogyakarta. Earlier, we inspected several service centers for Operation Ketupat 2026, particularly services at Tugu Station in Yogyakarta," Sigit said on Wednesday evening (3/18/2026).
On this occasion, Sigit received a report that today was the peak of the homecoming traffic at Tugu Station. He stated that the number of passengers had gone up to 55,000.
"From the report earlier, we received information that the peak of the homecoming traffic was for train arrivals, with approximately 54,000 arriving, and this number has now increased to 55,000," Sigit said.
Meanwhile, Sigit received reports that the peak return flow at Tugu Station occurred on March 28 and 29, 2026. According to Sigit, trains remain one of the public's favorite modes of transportation for the Eid homecoming and return journey.
He explained that people choose trains for the homecoming journey as they feel safer, more comfortable, and are punctual, making train as the favorite choice of transportation for the people.
"And then, as we saw earlier, there's a checkpoint for train drivers who will be carrying out their duties, so this also ensures that they are in good health and ready to carry out their duties," said Sigit.
Furthermore, Sigit explained that the Yogyakarta City Sub-regional Police also provides an application called 'Si Parjo' that can be used by people who want to park or leave their vehicles during the homecoming and return journey.
In general, Sigit emphasized that the homecoming flow in Yogyakarta and Jakarta has been relatively safe so far. The police have implemented several policies, particularly to ease congestion caused by the surge in vehicle volume.
"In general, it was reported that the situation at Yogyakarta Station is still relatively safe, with no significant complaints. We also received information that the national One Way system, along with the local One Way system, has begun in Jakarta today," Sigit emphasized.
