inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting a 15 percent reduction in the stunting rate through public education on the importance of adequate nutrition and mental health for children during the first 1,000 days of life (HPK).

"The stunting rate in Jakarta in 2025 was 17.2 percent. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's target is to reduce the stunting rate to 15 percent," said Dody Taruna Dwiputra, Head of the Child Protection Division of the Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP), Friday (6/19/2026).

Head of the Division, Dody, explained that the 1,000 HPK, known as the golden period, is the most important period in a person's life. This period begins at conception, spanning 270 days of pregnancy, and continues until 730 days after birth.

"During this period, brain development, body growth, metabolic development, and the rapid development of the immune system occur," said Dody.

Therefore, the 1,000-day life span (HPK) must be optimized, including by maintaining the health of expectant mothers and children, providing appropriate and balanced nutrition, providing adequate stimulation, adopting good parenting practices, and providing a supportive environment not only for children but also for mothers within the family.

He also emphasized that the family is the primary and closest environment for children.

Families, said Dody, have the obligation and responsibility to care for, foster, and protect children from violence and discrimination, which is also an effort to prevent stunting.

Meanwhile, the outreach activities, which involved several health experts, were aimed specifically at adolescents, women who are about to become brides, expectant mothers, and mothers.

It is hoped that this outreach regarding accelerating stunting reduction can be implemented by the entire community.
