The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police deployed the Violence Investigation Unit (Jatanras Unit) to assist in the investigation of a husband and wife assault in Pondok Gede, Bekasi, who were attacked by unknown persons (OTK). This case was previously handled by the Bekasi Sub-regional Metropolitan Police.

In this case, the victim, EU (65), died at the scene, and his wife, P (60), suffered injuries to the back of her head.

"Yes, the Bekasi Sub-regional Metropolitan Police, along with the Jatanras Sub-Directorate and Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade, are currently investigating this case," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, on Tuesday (3/3/2026).

Budi explained that his team expressed condolences to the victim's family and hoped the perpetrator would be apprehended soon.

He stated that the police have not yet confirmed whether this case was murder or theft with violence, although the victim's valuables were stolen.

"Regarding the motive, it's still under investigation. The team's main focus right now is gathering facts, identifying the perpetrator, and making an arrest," he explained.
