inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government has exempted battery-powered electric vehicles from the odd-even traffic policy as part of its support for low-emission vehicles.
"We are maintaining the odd-even policy for battery-powered electric vehicles," said Syafrin Liputo, Head of the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Syafrin stated that this policy is part of an effort to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly vehicles, in line with the commitment to reducing emissions and strengthening a sustainable urban transportation system.
He stated that the development of electric vehicles needs to be positioned as part of a broader urban mobility strategy, supported by strengthening public transportation and consistent environmental policies.
In addition to this policy, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also maintaining fiscal incentives in the form of exemptions from Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fee (BBNKB) for battery-powered electric vehicles.
This policy aligns with the Circular Letter of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 900.1.13.1/3764/SJ concerning the provision of fiscal incentives in the form of exemptions from PKB and BBNKB for battery-powered electric vehicles.
The Head of the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency, Lusiana Herawati, stated that this policy is part of supporting the renewable energy-based vehicle ecosystem and an effort to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly vehicles in Jakarta.
Previously, the Central Government, through Minister of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) Number 11 of 2026, stipulated that electric vehicles are no longer exempt from the PKB and BBNKB, so that ownership and transfer remain within the taxation scheme.
This means that electric cars are still subject to tax, but the amount of tax paid is not always the full amount and can even be zero rupiah, depending on regional policy.
In this regard, the central government remains open to incentives in the form of exemptions or reductions, as stipulated in Article 19.
