Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and a coalition of countries including Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a joint condemnation on Thursday against Israel’s new legislation enabling the death penalty for Palestinians.

In a collective statement released by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday (3/4/2026), the ministers denounced the law as a "dangerous escalation" that further entrenches a "system of apartheid." The coalition argued that the measure is inherently discriminatory, as it specifically targets Palestinian detainees while exempting Israeli citizens from similar sentencing.

"The Ministers reaffirm their opposition to Israel's racially discriminatory, oppressive, and aggressive policies that target Palestinians and deny their fundamental rights and existence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory," they said in a written statement cited by antaranews.com.

The international group expressed "profound concern" over the deteriorating conditions within Israeli prisons. Citing credible reports of torture, starvation, and inhumane treatment, the ministers warned that such legal shifts risk destabilizing the entire region. The statement concluded with an urgent call for international accountability and a demand for the occupying power to refrain from actions that exacerbate tensions on the ground.
