Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Karangasem Sub-regional Police disclosed further details regarding a fleet owner and suspect in the fatal immulation of his 20-year-old truck driver in Susut Hamlet, Muncan Village, Selat District, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

Investigative findings revealed that the suspect, identified as I Putu CP (37),  operates an auto repair workshop and manages a commercial fleet of approximately 13 trucks.

Karangasem Police Chief Superintendent I Made Santika said that background checks indicate the suspect rarely socialized with neighbors or community members, likely due to business demands, which investigators believe contributed to his volatile temperament and erratic decision-making when facing financial pressure.

"The information suggests the sup[ect rarely socialized with the community, perhaps because he was busy managing his business," he explained on Saturday (3/10/2026). "Perhaps due to minimal interaction with neighbors and family, he had short-sighted thoughts when facing problems and was quick to lose his temper."

Investigators established that financial disputes triggered the violent altercation. At the time of the incident, the suspect was facing impending installment payments on his truck fleet while the victim, identified as I Gede Selamet, had not yet deposited expected business capital. The suspect confronted the victim, who was resting due to illness, physically striking and slapping him before escalating the assault.

The suspect subsequently poured Pertalite gasoline over the victim and ignited a match.

The victim suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar, where he succumbed to his injuries after several days of intensive medical treatment.

While preliminary examinations suggest the initial intent was to intimidate the driver rather than commit planned murder, Karangasem Police continue deep-level interrogations to establish full legal accountability and refine the criminal charge sheets against the suspect.
