inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) commended the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Cyber Investigation Directorate for its decisive action in uncovering a case of alleged online pornography utilizing social media platforms.
KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono stated that the case is no longer considered a mere moral violation, but rather a serious crime that threatens the safety of the younger generation.
"We view this issue as not merely a moral or immoral violation, but a serious criminal offense. The impact is significant on efforts to create a digital space that is friendly, safe, and comfortable for children," explained Aris on Tuesday (5/26/2026).
The KPAI, he said, is highlighting the pornography emergency in Indonesia, with data showing that more than 4 million children have accessed pornographic content. The most worrying aspect is that live pornographic content is no longer limited to adult-only apps but has also spread to general social media platforms, which are widely accessed by children.
"This means the threat to children is increasingly real. Not only on certain adult apps, but also on social media apps where children interact extensively," said Aris.
Seeing this phenomenon, the KPAI emphasized that law enforcement should not stop at arresting perpetrators alone. Platforms providing electronic services or social media are also required to share responsibility.
He believes that if app providers care about child users, they should be able to independently detect and take down pornographic content.
In addition to encouraging intensified cyber patrols by the police, KPAI also urges the public, especially parents, to implement an early warning system for children's digital activities.
"Parents must supervise and check their kids, so that the possibility of their children accessing high-risk content can be prevented as early as possible, before it reaches the stage of exposure or even addiction," added Aris.
Furthermore, KPAI invites all elements of society and law enforcement officials to work together to maintain Indonesia's digital ecosystem so that it remains healthy, safe, and friendly to support optimal child growth and development.
