Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially named Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his personal aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, as suspects in a systemic extortion case within the Tulungagung Regency administration late Saturday night (11/4/2026).

"The Regent allegedly collected approximately Rp2.7 billion by coercing officials into signing resignation pledges, which were then used as leverage to demand illicit payments," said Asep Guntur Rahayu, the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, as reported by antaranews.com.

Investigators revealed that the suspects pressured heads of 16 regional government agencies to fulfill financial demands ranging from Rp 15 million to over Rp 2.8 billion under the threat of administrative dismissal.

Following their arrest in a sting operation, both suspects have been remanded to the KPK detention facility for an initial 20-day period. The commission continues to examine evidence regarding a total of Rp5 billion in suspected illegal solicitations, marking this as a significant crackdown on regional leadership misconduct under the current anti-graft drive.
