The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded the magnitude 4.2 earthquake on Saturday afternoon (6/6/2026) at 3:30 pm. 

The tremor originated at a relatively shallow depth of 21 kilometers, with its epicenter positioned roughly 68 kilometers northeast of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. Because shallow maritime tremors can occasionally be felt along the coastline, BMKG utilized its rapid automated tracking network to broadcast the initial coordinates via its official X account shortly after the event occurred.

The weekend shake passed without causing disruption to local coastal communities. Emergency services reported no immediate structural damage or casualties following the event. Local authorities have advised residents to remain calm, follow official safety channels, and maintain standard awareness regarding routine aftershocks.
