Magnitude 4.8 Earthquake Strikes Southwest of West Pasaman in West Sumatra

Inp.polri.go.id - Samarida. A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck southwest of Pasaman Barat, West Sumatra, on Saturday at 7.50 am, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The agency reported that the epicenter was located at coordinates 0.30 South Latitude and 99.01 East Longitude. The seismic event was centered approximately 101 kilometers southwest of Pasaman Barat and occurred at a depth of 19 kilometers.

The agency noted in its disclaimer that the initial release prioritizes speed, meaning the early data processing is not yet fully stable and remains subject to changes as more telemetry data becomes available. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties following the tremor.
