Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck northwest of Tahuna, Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi, on Thursday (25/6/2026) at 11.03 am, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The agency determined that the undersea earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was located at coordinates 5.50° N latitude and 125.07° E longitude, approximately 215 kilometers northwest of Tahuna.

"#Gempa Mag:5.3, 25-Jun-26 11:03:35 WIB... 215 km Northwest TAHUNA-KEP.SANGIHE-SULUT, Depth:10 Km, no tsunami potential," BMKG announced via its official social media account on X.

The agency noted that its initial automated data prioritized reporting speed, meaning the parameters remain subject to minor adjustments as complete seismic information is compiled. No immediate damages or casualties were reported.
