Inp.polri.go.id - Samarida. A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck northwest of Tahuna, Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi, on Saturday (18/7/2026) at 9.23 am, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The agency reported that the epicenter was located at coordinates 4.72 North Latitude and 124.78 East Longitude. The seismic event was centered approximately 146 kilometers northwest of Tahuna and occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. Crucially, authorities confirmed that the tremor does not have the potential to trigger a tsunami.

No immediate structural damage or casualties have been reported following the moderate tectonic event.
