inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate arrested a Malaysian citizen identified as LYL (42). He is suspected of operating a home-based industry producing etomidate in South Jakarta.
Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate, Superintendent Ade Candra, said the case began with a public report regarding suspected narcotics transactions in the Tebet area of South Jakarta.
Equipped with this information, police conducted surveillance and location mapping before apprehending LYL on Tuesday (8/18/2026). During the search, officers found several cartridges and powder suspected of containing etomidate.
"After monitoring and mapping the location, officers immediately apprehended LYL. During the search, police found cartridges and powder strongly suspected of containing etomidate on the suspect's person," Ade said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday (8/31/2026).
Police then expanded their investigation to LYL's residence, also in South Jakarta. At the location, officers discovered facilities suspected of being used to process and produce narcotics.
From the two search locations, police confiscated 131 cartridges suspected of containing etomidate and 10 packets of powder suspected of containing the substance.
In addition, officers seized several pieces of equipment suspected of being used in the production process, including measuring cups, syringes, a stove, a press, a digital scale, and various solvents.
LYL, along with all the evidence, is now being held at the police headquarters for further investigation. Police will also conduct an in-depth investigation into the production and distribution of narcotics.
Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that solving narcotics cases is inseparable from the public's role in providing information to the police.
"Even the smallest piece of information from the public is very useful for the police," Budi said.
Budi urged the public to immediately report any information regarding potential disturbances to public order and security through the 24-hour Police Call Center 110.
