The Minister of Manpower stated that the level of AI adoption in Indonesia is still below the global average. This condition signals that the world of work is changing rapidly and Indonesia cannot afford to delay in preparing its workforce.

"The key is not just the technology, but how we equip our human resources (HR) to be ready. Workers must have the ability to adapt and continuously develop in the face of change," explained the Minister of Manpower on Wednesday (April 15, 2026).

According to him, the challenges in the current workplace are no longer limited to protecting normative rights, but also ensuring workers have adequate competencies to remain relevant amidst technological change.

In this context, the Minister of Manpower believes that labor unions need to take a more strategic role. "Not only should they be present when labor relations issues arise, but they should also actively prepare workers for technological developments, including AI," he said.
