Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police announced on Friday (15/5/2026), an active investigation into a suspected child prostitution ring involving Japanese nationals in the Blok M area of South Jakarta.
The investigation was launched after viral posts on social media platform X exposed Japanese citizens bragging about exploiting underage victims aged 16 to 17.
"Teams from the Cyber Crimes, Child Protection, and Human Trafficking units, along with the South Jakarta District Police, are looking into information regarding underage child prostitution in Blok M," said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, as cited by antaranews.com.
He urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline.
The Embassy of Japan in Jakarta issued a stern warning on 13 May 2026, reminding its citizens that child sexual exploitation violates both Indonesian and Japanese domestic laws, and offenders will face prosecution in both countries.
