The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police and the Jakarta Military Command have strengthened preventive security measures to ensure public demonstrations in Jakarta remain peaceful and prevent anarchic acts from damaging public facilities, authorities announced on Wednesday (2/9/2026)6.

Joint security forces prepared designated protest areas and facilitated official audiences between demonstration leaders and government officials, including leaders at the House of Representatives (DPR)  Building, to ensure public demands are delivered constructively.

"Public expression of opinion is protected under Law No. 9 of 1998, but there are proper procedures and mechanisms," Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent  Budi Hermanto stated during a press conference. "We encourage citizens to convey their aspirations peacefully, follow official protocols, and avoid violent actions."

He added that advance notification from demonstration organizers remains vital for police to deploy adequate security officers and safeguard both protesters and the general public.
