inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the support of various parties in achieving national food self-sufficiency.
He mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto had given special recognition for the contributions of INP Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Chairwoman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Siti Hediati Hariyadi, also known as Titiek Soeharto.
Amran expressed this appreciation while attending the fourth-quarter simultaneous corn harvest held in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Thursday (1/8/2026). He stated that the achievement of national food self-sufficiency was achieved much faster than the initial target.
"I am proud of the Chairwoman. She fully supports us, enabling us to achieve self-sufficiency in the shortest possible time, just one year. This achievement is inseparable from the full support of the Chairwoman of Commission IV," Amran said.
Furthermore, Amran also expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Police for his significant contribution to the agricultural sector. He considered this support a crucial part of the success of the national food self-sufficiency program.
"Secondly, we would like to express our gratitude to the Chief of Police for his significant contribution to the agricultural sector. On behalf of farmers and the government, we express our gratitude. This is extraordinary hard work, and the President expresses his appreciation directly to the Chairperson of Commission IV and the Chief of Police," he explained.
Furthermore, Amran explained that efforts to accelerate food self-sufficiency also have strategic impacts on social and security aspects. Increasing agricultural production is a preventative measure considered capable of strengthening community welfare and reducing the potential for crime.
"This is the best preventive measure, preventing crime. Why? Because by increasing production, it increases farmers' incomes, reduces poverty, reduces unemployment, and in turn, prevents crime," he explained.
