Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has clarified that the rising price of "Minyakita," the government’s subsidized cooking oil, is caused by distribution bottlenecks rather than a supply shortage. 

Despite raw material stocks being secure, prices in regions like Jakarta and Bali have surged to between Rp 20,000 and Rp2 2,000 per liter, far exceeding the government-set ceiling (HET) of Rp15.700.

"Production is sufficient and raw materials are safe. If prices rise, it is not a supply issue, but a matter of uncontrolled distribution," said Bapanas Secretary Sarwo Edhy in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com..

To address the anomaly, Bapanas and the National Police Food Task Force will take firm action against businesses violating the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) or engaging in price speculation. Authorities are currently tracing the distribution chain from retailers back to producers to ensure prices return to regulated levels and maintain national food sovereignty.
