inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) revealed that the National Anti-Narcotics Movement, or the National Anti-Narcotics Action Starting with Children Free from Drugs, is a strategic step to address the multidimensional threat of narcotics.

The Head of the BNN, Suyudi Ario Seto, emphasized that the current drugs threat has developed into a multidimensional national security issue.

"Drugs are not only a health issue, but also a matter of national security and resilience, which in certain contexts can become an instrument of asymmetric warfare," said the BNN Head on Wednesday (6/10/2026).

He warned that Indonesia faces a serious threat to its demographic dividend if the younger generation is not protected from drug abuse.

Based on a collaborative national survey by the BNN, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for year 2023–2025, the prevalence of drug abuse in Indonesia reached 2.11 percent, or approximately 4.15 million people, with the 15-24 age group being the most vulnerable.

This situation indicates that young people remain the primary target of drug syndicates.

Therefore, BNN introduced the Ananda Bersinar program during a briefing for students of the Senior Staff and Leadership School (Sespimti) regarding the Strategy for Preventing and Eradicating Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) at the Police Science College (PTIK) in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/26/2026).

The program is a preventive, educational, humanistic, and collaborative approach through strengthening families, schools, universities, villages, and communities.

"National resilience is not only built on the number of operations and the number of perpetrators imprisoned, but also on strong families, healthy schools, safe campuses, resilient villages, and the presence of the state in shaping the character of the younger generation," explained Suyudi.

He encouraged the Sespimti students, who are future senior leaders, to strengthen their integrity, leadership, and cross-sector collaboration in facing the increasingly complex drug threat.
