Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) revealed that 48 percent of all food poisoning incidents in Indonesia this year were caused by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, its head Dadan Hindayana told lawmakers on Wednesday (12/11/2025).
“Out of 441 total food poisoning cases, MBG contributed 211 incidents, affecting 11,640 beneficiaries. Around 636 were hospitalized, while 11,004 received outpatient care,” he said during a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR)’ Commission IX.
Dadan highlighted the urgent need to accelerate Hygiene and Sanitation Eligibility Certification (SLHS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and halal certification across all Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) in collaboration with local governments.
BGN has reached 41.6 million MBG beneficiaries through 14,773 SPPGs nationwide and spent Rp43.4 trillion, or 61.23 percent of its Rp 71 trillion 2025 budget.
Dadan also urged the use of sterilization tools, certified water, and routine training for food handlers to prevent further poisoning cases.
