Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Regional Police readied 100 Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers and emergency equipment on Tuesday (1/9/2026), following the eruption of Mount Sinabung in Karo Regency on Monday.
The eruption generated a 3.5-kilometer ash column lasting 991 seconds, depositing light volcanic ash over Kuta Rakyat, Kuta Gugung, Sigaranggarang, Sukanalu, and Sukandebih villages. Led by Battalion A Commander Senior Inspector Abdul Holid, the Brimob company deployed alongside transport trucks, mobile kitchens, water treatment units, and drones to reinforce Tanah Karo Sub-regional Police officers.
"The Indonesian Police and all relevant stakeholders continue monitoring Mount Sinabung's activity. We are ensuring personnel and infrastructure readiness should immediate assistance be required," said North Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintukan.
Authorities confirmed no casualties or major property damage were reported. Police instructed residents, tourists, and visitors to strictly avoid designated red-zone areas per Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) guidelines.
