Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Regional Police Directorate of Narcotics Investigation foiled three major inter-provincial drug trafficking attempts, seizing a total of 244 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and arresting nine suspects.
North Sumatra Police Director of Narcotics Senior Superintendent Andy Arisandi said during a press briefing in Medan on Friday (2/10/2026) that the multi-hundred-kilogram confiscation stemmed from three separate operations tracking major distribution networks operating from East Aceh toward Medan.
The first operation originated from the development of a 35-kilogram drug bust in Asahan on August 19, 2026, which led investigators to East Aceh where officers arrested three suspects, identified as K, MN, and Z, and seized an additional 50 kilograms of meth.
The second and largest operation yielded 150 kilograms of crystal meth on 6 September 2026, following the arrest of four suspects, identified as B, MA, TM, and M, at multiple locations across East Aceh Regency.
The third bust intercepted 44 kilograms of meth being transported via the Sumatra Highway in Besitang District, Langkat Regency, on 17 September 2026, leading to the arrest of two suspects, R and A.
Investigators are continuing trace operations to uncover the broader cross-border narcotics network. The suspects face severe charges Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics and the Criminal Code.
