inp.polri.go.id - East Nusa Tenggara. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, firmly committed to eradicating the distribution of narcotics and illegal drugs as demonstrated by the NTT Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate's success in uncovering a network of illegal psychotropic and hard drugs distribution across regions, reaching as far as Jakarta and Tangerang, Banten.
This disclosure is the result of an investigation conducted by the NTT Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate from May 12 to 16, 2026, into a psychotropic drug case involving suspect MI, who had previously been apprehended and detained at the NTT Regional Police HQ.
Acting Director of NTT Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate, Senior Superintendent Sajimin, explained that the case development was carried out under the direct direction of Chief Rudi as a demonstration of police's commitment to breaking the chain of illegal drug distribution that is threatening the younger generation.
"Thanks to the commitment and emphasis from the NTT Regional Police Chief, we continued to expand our operations beyond our operational region. As a result, the team successfully uncovered a network of illegal psychotropic and hard drug distributors operating in other regions," said Sajimin on Sunday (5/17/2026).
He explained that the team, led by First Police Inspector Anselmus Lesa, successfully arrested a suspect with the initials S (28) in Jakarta and Tangerang.
The suspect is a man from Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, who is suspected of sending goods to a network previously arrested by the NTT Regional Police.
During the operation, officers successfully seized a large amount of evidence from four different locations in Jakarta and Tangerang, including 1,150 psychotropic pills of various brands and 41,471 illegal hard drugs.
In addition, police also confiscated two mobile phones, dozens of plastic packaging boxes, shipping cartons, a printer, and even digital scales suspected of being used in the distribution of illegal drugs.
According to Sajimin, this disclosure is evidence that the illegal drug distribution network is increasingly exploiting shipping channels and online transactions to distribute its products to various regions, including NTT.
"This is a serious concern for us. Illegal drugs like Alprazolam and Tramadol are extremely dangerous if misused as it is dangerous for our health, trigger addiction, and even potentially lead to other crimes," he stressed.
Currently, the NTT Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate is continuing to develop other supplier networks whose identities have been identified and are under further investigation.
