Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported on Sunday (22/3/2026) that 46 neighborhood units across East Jakarta remain submerged under 30 to 80 cm of floodwater following extreme rainfall and the overflow of the Cipinang, Cilangkap, and Sunter rivers.
"The floods resulted from high precipitation causing several rivers to breach their banks after water levels reached critical alert statuses on Saturday evening," said BPBD Jakarta Chief Executive Isnawa Adji during a situational briefing, as reported by antaranews.com
Emergency personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department spent Saturday night evacuating vulnerable residents, including the sick, in the Pekayon and Pasar Rebo areas. Despite intensive pumping efforts by the Water Resources Agency, several residential zones remain inundated as high discharge from upstream areas in Depok continues to flow into the city's drainage network.
Authorities have deployed mobile pumps to ensure water traps are functioning and to accelerate the recession of standing water. Residents are urged to remain vigilant of rising water levels and utilize the 24-hour emergency hotline 112 for immediate assistance or medical evacuations.
