Inp.polri.go.id - Pamekasan. The Traffic Unit of the Pamekasan Sub-regional Police , in collaboration with local radio outlet Radio Swara Karimata FM, conducted a road safety campaign by distributing free Indonesian National Standard (SNI) helmets to motorcyclists at the Jokotole Intersection in Pamekasan, East Java, on Saturday (3/10/2026).
The joint initiative served as both a social outreach program and an educational drive aimed at instilling road safety consciousness among local riders. Officers and media crews inspected passing motorcyclists, replacing non-standard or damaged headgear with brand-new certified SNI helmets while demonstrating proper helmet usage.
Pamekasan Police Traffic Safety Unit Head First Inspector Dedy Dwi Purnomo said that helmet compliance must be viewed as a vital life-saving necessity rather than a mere regulatory obligation.
"In addition to serving as a traffic order campaign, this social service alongside media partners aims to educate the public on the importance of using standard helmets to reduce risks during traffic accidents," he explained during the event. "Do not view helmets as a requirement simply because of traffic rules. Using a helmet actually helps reduce risks if an accident occurs."
The helmet distribution formed part of Radio Swara Karimata FM's 37th-anniversary commemorations, which also included joint clean water supply deliveries with the support of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to drought-affected villages across Pamekasan Regency.
