Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Pati Sub-regional Pati arrested 11 people suspected of inciting violence during a protest in front of the regent’s office on Wednesday (13/8/2025), which escalated into clashes.
“The suspects have been identified and questioned by Pati Police investigators for further legal action,” said Central Java Regional Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Artanto, as reported by antaranews.com.
He confirmed that despite circulating rumors, no fatalities occurred after checks at hospitals and health facilities.
However, 34 demonstrators, mostly suffering from tear gas inhalation, were treated at RS Soewondo Hospital in Pati and later discharged. Seven police officers were also injured.
The demonstration demanding the removal of Pati Regent Sudewo due to poor governance and failing to address alleged irregularities in public policy, was initially peaceful, but turned violent when another group threw bottles, stones, sticks, rotten fruit, and other objects, prompting police to disperse the crowd and restore order by 3 pm.
