inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Sulawesi Regional Police's Women and Children Crimes (PPA) and Human Trafficking Crimes (PPO) Directorate arrested a woman with the initials MT (38) suspected of human trafficking (TPPO) for selling her child for money.

"We have apprehended the woman with the initials MT," said Police Assistant Superintendent Zaki Zungkar, Head of the PPO Sub-Directorate of the South Sulawesi Regional Police's PPA and PPO Directorate, Thursday (3/26/2026).

The alleged perpetrator was arrested following a police report filed by her husband, identified as Anto in early March 2026. 

Following an in-depth investigation into the report, the police team moved quickly to locate the perpetrator suspected of selling four children, three of whom were her own and one of whom was her niece.

"We immediately took action, took witness statements, and checked everything. She was eventually arrested in Makassar," said Zaki.

Although the perpetrator has been arrested, he said, investigators are still intensively investigating the whereabouts of the children, including the networks of human trafficking perpetrators who bought them.

Previously, the victim's father, Anto, filed a report with the South Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters under report number: LP/B/248/III/2026/SPKT/POLDA SULAWESI SELATAN on March 3, 2026.

He reported his wife, MT, to the police for the alleged trafficking of four children—three minors and an infant—along with her nephew, also a baby. The reporter has five children: three biological children and two stepchildren with MT. The whereabouts of two biological children and one infant are unknown.
