Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police are hunting a motorcycle-borne thief who snatched a smartphone from an Italian tourist near the Bundaran HI traffic circle and fled  the scene on Thursday afternoon. 

"The Menteng Police Office Criminal Investigation Unit, supported by the Central Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit, is working to identify the perpetrator," Menteng Police Chief Police Superintendent Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu told reporters on Friday (15/5/2026).

He added that the victim had been questioned, and officers are utilizing dashcam footage recorded by a motorist to track the suspect.

The stolen item was identified as a Motorola Edge 50 Neo smartphone. The victim reportedly fell while attempting to chase the fleeing suspect.
