The staples being monitored primarily include rice, cooking oil, eggs, onions, and chilies. These commodities are basic necessities used daily by the public, so price stability and availability must be maintained.

Monitoring activities are being conducted comprehensively, from traditional markets and distribution centers to large distributors to ensure there are no hoarding practices, price gouging, or shortages of goods that could harm the public.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Regional Police stated that this activity represents a concrete step taken by the Bali Regional Police to maintain food stability and protect the public from potential unreasonable price spikes.

"We want to ensure that basic necessities remain available at stable and affordable prices. We, together with the Food Security Task Force, will continue to conduct surveillance from upstream to downstream, from distributors to traditional markets, to prevent hoarding or price manipulation practices that harm the public," said the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Regional Police, Tuesday (4/28/ 2026).

He also emphasized that synergy between the police, local government, and business actors is crucial in maintaining regional food security and the economic stability of the Balinese people.

This initiative has received a positive response from the public and traders. They welcomed the presence of the Food Security Task Force, which they believe is capable of providing a sense of security and certainty regarding the stability of staple food prices.
