inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has prepared security measures at several locations in Jakarta ahead of the demonstration scheduled for Thursday (8/27/2026).
Security measures are being implemented to ensure the safe delivery of protests and to ensure the smooth flow of public activities.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that personnel have been deployed at several locations expected to be mass gathering points. Security measures involve the Indonesian National Military (TNI), the Jakarta Provincial Government, and internal security officers.
Several locations of concern include the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Building and the area around the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout and the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
"We are also preparing for these locations to secure the process of expressing opinions," Budi said when met at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta (8/26/2026).
Budi explained that the number of personnel deployed is not solely based on the number of protesters. Police must also anticipate traffic management needs, ensure the smooth flow of public activities, and secure several other locations in Jakarta.
Therefore, the number of personnel deployed could be greater than the number of people participating in the demonstration.
According to Budi, the information regarding the number of personnel should be understood as the total security force for the entire series of events, not just for a single demonstration point.
"We need to clarify this. For example, several thousand personnel are deployed, while the protesters are 500. The police personnel are not only for the 500 protesters, but also for traffic control and the smooth flow of other public activities," he explained.
Regarding the number of participants, Budi stated that at least two groups have submitted notices to hold demonstrations on Thursday. The two groups are the United Pati Community Alliance and the Red and White Alliance.
Based on preliminary information received by the police, the crowd is estimated at around 500 people.
The crowd is expected to be concentrated around the Indonesian Parliament Building. The police will also periodically provide updates and information regarding the demonstration through its official social media channels.
