The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police confirmed that the death of retired Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) employee Ermanto Usman (65) was due to theft with violence. In this case, the police arrested Sudirman, also known as Yuda (28).

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Iman Imanuddin, stated that the suspect claimed he had no specific target in choosing the house he visited.

"Based on the results of the investigation, supported by evidence, material, and witness statements during the investigation, the perpetrator did not have a specific target," explained Iman, Wednesday (3/11/2026).

Iman stated that Sudirman chose Ermanto's house solely for economic reasons. Seeing the large house, the suspect assumed he would have access to a large amount of goods.

He further explained that using scissors and a crowbar, Sudirman broke into Ermanto's house. However, while stealing the victim's belongings, his actions were caught by the victim's wife, Pasmilawati (60).

"So, why did the suspect hit the victim? Based on the statement the suspect gave to investigators, he was shocked. So, while the suspect was stealing from the victim's house, the victim woke up to hear the alarm for sahur," said Iman.

Using a crowbar, the suspect, Sudirman, spontaneously struck the victim's wife, rendering her helpless. Afterward, the suspect saw Ermanto, who had just gotten out of bed, sitting up in shock at the theft.

"Panicked, the suspect immediately attacked the male victim, who had just woken up and was sitting on the bed," he explained.

Sudirman then immediately fled Ermanto's house, taking two cell phones, a laptop, and jewelry. He then sold the stolen items, leaving only one cell phone with him.
