inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police confirmed that a woman allegedly attempted suicide in front of the Merdeka Palace fence in Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (March 22, 2026). The case has been handled by the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police's Women and Children Protection Unit.

"The woman was taken to the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police for further investigation," explained the Head of the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police's Women and Children Protection Unit, Police Assistant Superintendent Rita Oktavia, on Tuesday (3/24/2026).

According to Oktavia, preliminary investigation results indicate that the suicide attempt by hanging by the woman, identified as JSLP (20), was prevented by Rival, who was on duty at Post 02 Charlie, observing from inside the Palace fence and noticing suspicious movements.

"He then approached the woman with her backpack already down and her shoes off. The officers then reported it to the Command Post Commander. The Presidential Security Force then reported it to the Mobile Brigade Corps officers on duty at the White Tent," Oktavia explained.

She said that at that time, members of the Presidential Security Force and members of the Mobile Brigade Corps immediately headed to the scene. JSLP was then taken to the Merdeka Palace entrance post for examination by the Medical Team.

"Doctors from the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Medical Team arrived at the scene. They attempted to approach and communicate with the woman, but she continued to distance herself whenever approached," he said.
