The Riau Islands Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Safrudin, confirmed that the handling of the alleged assault case involving a police officer with the initials NS is being carried out without compromise. He emphasized that one officer has been detained as the suspected main perpetrator.
According to him, the Security and Profesion Division unit has also detained three other officers for questioning because they were at the scene of the crime.
"One officer has been detained and is suspected of being the main perpetrator. In addition, three other officers have been detained for further questioning because they were at the scene," he explained on Wednesday (4/15/2026).
He explained that the incident began on Monday evening, April 13, 2026, at approximately 11:50 PM. NS, a junior non-commissioned officer with the Riau Islands Regional Police, was allegedly the victim of violence between officers.
NS was later pronounced dead at 1:00 AM at Bhayangkara Hospital in Batam. The Riau Islands Regional Police Chief expressed his deep condolences for the incident.
"First of all, we extend our deepest condolences. This is a grief for all of us at the Riau Islands Regional Police," said Asep.
