inp.polri.go.id - Indramayu. The West Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate deployed a Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) team to conduct a scientific crime scene investigation to uncover the cause of the accident in Indramayu on Sunday (7/12/2026), which resulted in 12 deaths.
Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Division of the West Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Senior Superintendent Jimmy Manurung, stated that the TAA team was deployed to determine the cause of the accident through scientific and digital analysis-based investigations.
"The TAA is here to conduct a digital and scientific crime scene investigation to uncover the cause of the accident," he said.
He explained that the traffic accident in Kiajaran Kulon Village, Lohbener District, Indramayu Regency, involved three vehicles: a pickup truck and two trucks.
Based on preliminary investigation results, Jimmy said, the pickup truck had stopped in the right lane of the road as it was about to make a U-turn.
However, the vehicle was then struck from behind by a Hino box truck, pushing it into the opposite lane and colliding with another truck coming from the opposite direction.
The accident resulted in 12 deaths: three at the scene and nine others who died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
"In addition to the fatalities, six others suffered minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Mitra Plumbon Hospital," he said.
In investigating the case, the police have questioned four witnesses, including two drivers of the vehicles involved in the accident and two people who witnessed the incident.
However, he emphasized that the police have not yet named any suspects, as the crime scene investigation and processing are still ongoing.
"We are still processing the crime scene. We will announce the suspects after the case conference at the police station," he said.
On that occasion, he also appealed to the public not to use pickup trucks to transport passengers because of the risk of causing greater casualties in the event of an accident.
