inp.polri.go.id - Balikpapan. Riau Regional Police police women directly assisted in handling forest and land fires in Pelalawan and Rokan Hilir Regencies. This action was carried out as a support for the handling of wildfire and a form of concern for the affected communities.
The presence of police women in the midst of the forest and land fire handling demonstrates the role of policewomen, who not only perform their duties but also directly participate in disaster management and support for affected communities.
In Pelalawan Regency, 26 police women from the Pelalawan Sub-regional Police visited residents in Kerumutan District. In addition to distributing masks, they also provided psychological support through trauma healing activities for people affected by the smoke and land fires.
This support was provided because the impact of forest and land fires not only causes environmental damage and reduced air quality but can also affect the mental health of people in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, police women from the Rokan Hilir Sub-regional Police went directly to the forest and land fire location in Napangga Pujud, Tanjung Medan District. They assisted in extinguishing the fires to prevent the flames from spreading to other areas.
The Head of Public Relations for the Riau Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Akmadi, explained that the involvement of female police officers in handling forest and land fires is part of a joint effort to ensure that the community receives assistance appropriate to the conditions on the ground.
"Their roles are different, but the goal is the same: to be present according to the community's needs and the conditions on the ground," he said, Wednesday (9/3/2026).
The involvement of female police officers in handling forest and land fires is part of the police's humanitarian approach. They focus not only on extinguishing and preventing the spread of fires, but also on the needs of communities affected by the disaster.
