inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate has arrested two motorcycle theft suspects who used the guise of fake psychics. The two suspects had previously operated in the Duren Sawit area of East Jakarta.
"Two men, identified as RAT (60) and AJ (46), were arrested by the police after allegedly stealing a motorcycle," explained Vice Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Superintendent Danang Setiyo Pambudi Sukarno, Wednesday (May 27, 2026).
He noted that suspect RAT (60) was arrested in Cilincing, North Jakarta on May 23, 2026. AJ (46) was arrested a day later in Semper, North Jakarta.
Danang said the two suspects exploited the victim's deception and fear to steal a motorcycle and valuables belonging to a teenager named Ilham (19).
He explained that the case was uncovered based on the victim's report and the results of developing information from residents through the neighborhood security post in Duren Sawit.
"For their actions, the two suspects are being charged under Article 477 paragraph (1) letter g and/or Article 492 of the Criminal Code, Law Number 1 of 2023, which carries a maximum sentence of seven and four years in prison, respectively," he said.
