Preserving the Environment, Police Continue Strict Enforcement Against Illegal Mining

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The North Sumatra Regional Police and ranks continue to enforce strict law enforcement against illegal activities, and illegal gold mining is no exception.

Through Mandailing Natal Sub-regional Police, the security force have taken action against Illegal Gold Mining (PETI) in Kotanopan District, Jambur Tarutung Village.

The operation was led directly by the Head of Mandailing Natal Sub-regional Police, Superintendent Arie Sofandi Paloh, in collaboration with the military and the police, and related stakeholders.

In the operation, the security force confiscates the tools used for illegal mining activities. People who are still mining are asked to stop activities and leave the mining area.

In his appeal, Arie warned the public about the dangers of illegal mining, both in terms of safety and its impact on the environment. In addition, illegal miners' camps were dismantled by joint personnel.

"This is a firm step to protect the community and the environment from the negative impacts of illegal mining. The police will continue to take action to ensure that there are no more illegal mining activities in this area," said Arie.

North Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations Head, Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi appreciated the Mandailing Natal Sub-regional Police who continued to take action against illegal mining activities.

"The North Sumatra Regional Police also appreciates the help from the military, local governments, and the community who support the smooth running of the action," said Hadi on Saturday (1/18/2025).

Although there are still people found carrying out illegal mining activities, the police ensured that there was no resistance during the action and the people stopped after being given warnings by police officers.
