inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has instructed that French language learning be expanded at all levels of education in Indonesia as part of strengthening educational cooperation with France.

President Prabowo made this statement in his remarks at a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris, France, on Thursday (5/28/2026) local time.

"We want to further improve education. I have instructed that all levels of Indonesian schools must learn French, in view of future global developments," said President Prabowo on Friday (5/29/2026).

According to President Prabowo, mastery of foreign languages, including French, is crucial for preparing the younger generation to face the ever-evolving global dynamics, along with the increasingly close relationship between Indonesia and France in various sectors.

He assessed that cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science and technology continues to show positive developments. President Prabowo also emphasized the important roles of Indonesia and France in maintaining global stability amidst increasing global uncertainty.

Furthermore, President Prabowo emphasized that advances in science and technology are making the world more connected, so war and conflict will not benefit any party.

On that occasion, President Prabowo also stated that Indonesia and France share many similar views on a number of international issues. He appreciated President Macron's support, which he believes has contributed to the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.

"In several respects, Indonesia and France share similar positions, and our current bilateral relationship is very good. This is due to President Macron's direct support," he emphasized.
