Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has instructed Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi to open as many direct international flight routes as possible to Indonesia’s tourist destinations.
"The President asked the Minister to open as many international flight routes from abroad directly to tourist destinations," said Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Chief Hasan Nasbi during a press briefing on Thursday (7/8/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He said the directive, delivered during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace, aims to maximize tourism’s potential as a key source of national income and foreign exchange.
President Prabowo stressed that direct flights from overseas to domestic destinations could reduce dependence on Jakarta as a transit hub and boost foreign tourist arrivals.
He also urged airports ready in terms of infrastructure and operations to start serving international flights immediately, citing tourism’s capacity to generate jobs and economic growth.
