Inp.polri.go.id - Miangas. President Prabowo Subianto has pledged to renovate every community health center, known locally as Puskesmas, across Indonesia following a working visit to Miangas, a remote island in North Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/5/2026).
"I saw several health centers today. The Health Minister whispered to me that some have not been repaired since the era of President Soeharto. We will fix every Puskesmas in Indonesia, immediately," President Prabowo said, as cited by antaranews.com.
He emphasized that modernizing health infrastructure is a top priority to ensure remote and border areas receive proper medical care.
The revitalization plan extends beyond healthcare as the government also intends to renovate schools and provide digital learning tools, including free internet access. The President also announced the upcoming development of a red and white fishing village in Miangas, which will include new fishing vessels and cold storage facilities to support the local economy.
