Inp.polri.go.id - Miangas. President Prabowo Subianto has set a target to inaugurate 1,386 read and white fishing villages across Indonesia by December 2026.

Speaking during a working visit to Miangas Island, North Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/5/2026), the President emphasized that the initiative is a cornerstone of his administration's plan to significantly improve the welfare of coastal communities.

"By December of this year, we will inaugurate 1,386 fishing villages across Indonesia. Hopefully, there will be one here in Miangas in the near future," President Prabowo said, as cited by antaranews.com. 

He highlighted that if construction begins next month, residents could benefit from new facilities within approximately five months, underscoring his commitment to rapid infrastructure development.

The program includes the distribution of 15-gross tonnage (GT) fishing vessels and the construction of modern support facilities, such as cold storage units and dedicated refueling stations. The President asserted that large-scale improvements for the fisheries sector are a top priority, ensuring that modern tools and infrastructure reach fishermen in the nation's m
