President’s Directions in Acting Against Illegal Mining Must be Carried Out by All Parties

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that President Prabowo Subianto's directive for the Indonesian National Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) to investigate individuals involved in illegal mining activities must be implemented by all levels of government, in accordance with their authority.

"The President has given his statement, and it must be implemented not only by the TNI and INP, but also by all his aides," Supratman said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday (8/14/2026).

He said the President has repeatedly conveyed the message that government officials must be careful and not take actions that conflict with the public interest.

Supratman also said that the President has emphasized that he will not defend officials who act contrary to the will of the people.

"Every time we meet, his message is only one: 'Be careful. That's it. I will never defend you if you take actions that are not in line with the people's wishes’. The President has always said that," he said.

Regarding the President's speech at the 2026 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), Supratman assessed that the substance of the speech covered various aspects of development and government performance.

"I think it was holistic. Holistic, he acknowledged that all aspects have been achieved, but they are not yet optimal, and he asked his assistants to continue working hard to achieve our target goal of improving the welfare of the nation and state," he said.

The Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPD) were held at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, with the theme "Indonesia: Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous."

During the event, the President delivered a report on the performance of state institutions and delivered a state address, as well as a video showing the government's achievements.
