inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Riau Islands Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Safrudin,  inaugurated the Riau Islands Regional Police's Rapid Reaction Unit (URC). 

This development is an effort to strengthen rapid and responsive police services to the public.

Asep emphasized that the public currently expects a police force capable of responding quickly to every report. Therefore, the establishment of the Rapid Reaction Unit is not only the responsibility of its personnel, but also reflects the spirit of all police members to provide fast, accurate, and professional services to the public.

"We established the Rapid Reaction Unit so that every public report can be immediately followed up. This team not only operates upon receiving a report, but also actively patrols vulnerable areas as a preventative measure," he explained on Monday (6/29/2026).

Furthermore, Asep explained that rapid service is not only measured by the speed of arriving at the scene of a crime, but also by the speed in receiving reports, providing information, handling complaints, and resolving any public issues. All functional officials were also asked to up their oversight of every public report to ensure that no complaints are ignored.

"Operational vehicles have also been given special identification to make them easily recognized by the public and to act as a deterrent against criminals," said Asep.

He also emphasized that the Riau Islands Regional Police continue to optimize the 110 hotline as a means for the public to report any incidents requiring police presence. 

All operators have been equipped with a mechanism for receiving and distributing reports so that any information received can be immediately followed up by personnel in the field.
