Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A second earthquake shook Sarmi Regency, Papua, on Friday afternoon, closely following an earlier tremor in the region. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that this latest marine seismic event registered a magnitude of 4.3 and struck at approximately 12.16pm, with its epicenter located off the northwest coast.

According to the official data stream published on BMKG's social media broadcasting accounts, the geographical coordinates of the earthquake were mapped at 1.97 South Latitude and 139.07 East Longitude. Automated sensor tracking positioned the center of the disturbance roughly 57 kilometers northwest of Sarmi, originating at a moderate depth of 30 kilometers.

"This information prioritizes speed, so the results of data processing are not yet stable and could change as more data becomes available," BMKG clarified in its real-time technical disclaimer. 

No immediate reports of localized structural damage, structural cracks, or casualties have been issued by regional emergency response networks.
