Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck northwest of Tahuna, Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi, at 1.15 pm on Tuesday (9/6/2026). The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said  that the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

According to BMKG data, the epicenter was located at coordinates 5.27 North Latitude and 125.32 East Longitude, approximately 185 kilometers northwest of Tahuna. No immediate damage or casualties were reported following the minor undersea tremor.

"#Gempa Mag:5.2, 09-Jun-2026 13:15:14 WIB... Depth:10 Km #BMKG," the agency stated via its official account on X (formerly Twitter). "This information prioritizes speed, so the results of data processing are not yet stable and could change as more data becomes available."

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, but no tsunami warnings were issued for the surrounding areas.
