inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Regional Police's Cyber Investigation Directorate has arrested a woman identified as IP for allegedly broadcasting pornographic content via a live broadcast feature on social media.
The Director of Cyber Investigation at the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Bayu Wicaksono, stated that the case was uncovered after police conducted cyber patrols in the digital space.
The discovery began on July 28, 2026. At that time, officers discovered live broadcast activity on a social media platform suspected of containing pornographic content.
"From our digital monitoring, we discovered live broadcast activity on a social media platform suspected of containing pornographic content," Bayu said in Medan (9/3/2026).
Officers then discovered several more live broadcasts from the same account with similar content from August 7 to 9, 2026.
Investigators further investigated these findings by collecting digital evidence and tracing the account. Profiling revealed that the activity was allegedly connected to the woman identified as IP.
Police then went to a house on Mawar Road, Sari Rejo Village, Medan Polonia District, Medan City, on Monday (8/31/2026). During the operation, officers arrested IP along with several items suspected of being related to the live broadcast activity.
Several pieces of evidence were also seized, including two cell phones, a flash drive containing a recording of the live broadcast, a tripod, a SIM card, and clothing suspected of being used to create the content.
Investigators also seized several social media accounts and digital wallets suspected of being connected to the activity.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police suspect IP has been conducting live broadcasts containing pornographic content since mid-2025.
For his alleged actions, IP has been charged under Article 407 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) and/or Article 34 in conjunction with Article 8 and/or Article 36 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography.
