Inp.polri.go.id - Banjarbaru. The South Kalimantan Regional Police intercepted a smuggling attempt involving 43.8 kilograms of methamphetamine originating from Malaysia, linked to the international network of drug kingpin Fredy Pratama.
"We arrested two couriers, identified as AG from Jakarta and RD from Lampung, shortly after they arrived at a hotel in Banjarmasin with 44 large packages of meth concealed in suitcases," said Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan, the Chief of the South Kalimantan Police, during a press briefing in Banjarbaru on Monday (13/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The operation, led by the Directorate of Drug Investigation, was initiated following a public tip-off regarding a large-scale shipment entering the province. Authorities tracked the suspects to their location on April 8, effectively preventing the distribution of the narcotics.
