Inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. Female officers (Polwan) from the South Sumatra Regional Police) distributed 1,000 face masks and flowers to residents in Palembang on Tuesday (1/9/2026) to protect public health from forest fire haze risks during the 78th Polwan Anniversary.

The initiative was led by South Sumatra Polwan Coordinator Superintendent Resti Arini alongside Senior Superintendent Andes Purwanti to address air quality concerns caused by land and forest fires across the province.

"This mask distribution is our tangible effort to protect public health against potential haze caused by forest fires in South Sumatra," Chief Arini said, adding that the accompanying flowers symbolized Polwan's commitment to friendly, community-focused service.

South Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu’min Wijaya emphasized that the activity aims to educate the public on health precautions while reinforcing institutional presence.
