Inp.polri.go.id - South Tangerang. The South Tangerang Sub-regional Police questioned six witnesses regarding an ongoing investigation into counterfeit currency involving 34 bills of Singaporean Dollar SGD 10,000 notes, totaling SGD 340,000.

South Tangerang Police Chief Superintendent Boy Jumalolo confirmed on Wednesday (9/9/2026) that investigators are interviewing additional key witnesses and collaborating with the Indonesian National Police  (INP) International Relations Division to communicate with Singaporean authorities regarding an Indonesian citizen currently detained in Singapore.

The case, initially reported to the Jakarta Metro Jay Regional Police on 3 July 2026, was transferred to the South Tangerang Police for detailed investigation. House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III members Hasbiallah Ilyas, Rudianto Lallo, and Nasyirul Falah Amru called on law enforcement to resolve the cross-border matter to maintain international legal certainty and trace the origin and transaction flow of the counterfeit notes.

According to legal counsel Yosia MPT Ginting Suka, his client, identified as Steven, received one SGD 10,000 note associated with an person named AN before attempting to exchange it in Singapore in June 2024. Subsequently, AN and two associates, identified as HJ and EAK,  handed Steven an additional 33 notes. All 34 notes were ultimately seized by Singaporean authorities and verified as not genuine.

South Tangerang Police investigators continue to examine evidence and documentation to map out the full distribution chain and identify all involved parties.
